Season 2 ' The Fix' Part 2

by Nathan Stout (of AccordingToWhim.com)

Welcome to the second part of the According To Whim Season 2 Fix. I spent more time reviewing some tapes and attempting to rebuild Episodes 3, 4, 5, and 6 of our public access television show: According To Whim (Season 2). Season 3 Episode 1 was also lost so I have included it as well. You can read the first part (and the full story) by clicking here.

This post will cover 6 tapes this time. I made a little headway in the last few days. My goal for this last week (which was from Thursday to Thursday) was to review/re-encode 3 tapes so I am way ahead of the game. I hope to keep up that pace until I have all my tapes reviewed. Once reviewed I can start organizing the footage I recovered and finally I will know what exactly is missing and will need to be re-shot.

Tape #9
There was actually quite a bit varied footage on this tape. Some might hold five or six scenes where this tape held about 18. I was able to recover 12 scenes off this tape. There is one section that was taped over so I might have lost some footage from Episode 2 but that is alright since I have completed that episode.

Tape #10
This tape has no According To Whim footage at all. It was one of our audio shows that we taped on a camera but as of yet I still have not transferred it to the PC.

Tape #11
This tape turned out to be a critical collection of footage since alot of it involved Stacy (our Landlord character from Season 2). An unfortunate fact is that I used this tape for recording some later footage and we lost some irreplaceable stuff. During the later months of the shoot I gave Chris the camera to take home and shoot a scene at his house between himself and Loren. I gave him a tape we already had filled up. He recorded over (as per my instructions) footage from episodes 1 and 2. If that is truly all that was there we are OK because we have already finished it and don't need all those Miguel-filmed shots. However, later in the tape (luckily towards the end) I began shooting a sketch for Season 2 called 'Nathan's Revenge'. The sketch was good enough for me to upload it so at least I won't have to re edit all that footage. Anyway the 'Nathan's Revenge' footage was taped over some of Stacy's stuff. I think (I won't know for sure until I am completely done) all of her actual scenes were earlier on the tape and what was recorded over was just little extras stuff I got her to do on the day she was at the house for filming. I got 6 scenes off this tape.

Tape #12
Once again I used the tape at a later date and recorded over footage that I can never get back. On this tape I have lost 10 minutes of footage (I am guessing it belongs in Episode 5). At some point more than a year ago I shot an According To Whim Productions Demo video. This footage if from that tape. Miguel came over a few days after that and we did another one (that we didn't use) and together they ate up 10 minutes on the tape. Other than that I only needed to recover 1 shot off this tape. It was a close up of an answering machine for episode 3.

Tape #13
This was a mixed use tape and nothing got recorded over. It contained some video of a doctor teaching a class at work as well as a charity video I did for work and some footage for the TRTC contest I entered. I was able to recover 2 scenes off this tape.
